I agree so much! That measuring is so specific and a pain in the a$$. I'm practicing to get good at likenesses and I don't want to do an elaborate set up every time. I want to simply have a sketchbook and some pencils right now.

I wish you would have used the box measure technique that you did on the profile of the woman during the painting of the cast. When you did the cast, you didn't show how the shapes related to one another. That was the most important part of this instruction for me, and went over things that I already know, but keep screwing up on the paper.

I’ve never painted a face before, nor do I plan on painting one. But this video was so interesting that I watched it all. Great video, very informative.

I have 12 years painting with oils but because I struggled economically I haven’t been able to do a lot of paints. Since The beginning I have only used mineral solvent and linseed oil and that’s it, it works great for me and I don’t need anything else. Well , also I have used varnish at the end of the painting but I might try this recipes that you are giving! Thank you so much!

I have a few oil paintings from 1988 to 1989 where I only used a bit of turpentine or nothing at all added to the paint and they look the same today as they did back then.

Ok so this was cool 100 years ago when there were no cameras but just like cds and dvd and movie theaters they are no longer needed and then we have you taking hours to do an average painting and absolutely over explaining it making my ears bleed. Seriously you just spoke every second of the video. Do you you like hearing your voice? Cause I don’t and I’m sure everyone else would agree. Zip it and use a camera put the portrait dream away it’s not your thing
